Cactus Classic Xll

We met up early Friday morning at Denny's in Beaumont for the trip. John S., Steve, Randy, Allen,
Robert , & Mark. Red White & Blue except for me, 6 cars for the cruise' to Phoenix.
I don't remember how many pit stops we made, but we marked our territory all the way there !
We didn't get in on time to go to Fletcher's house, but we did make it to Curtis's Shop, you could build a dozen cars with all the bodies & parts lay'n around ! And as you can see, it's just like I've been say'n, SCRamblers are everywhere ! Does everyone have one ?
This shop could hold half a dozen cars, he also has a paint booth, and the yard wraps half way around the place....I wish I would have worn some pants with BIG pockets....I saw some stuff I could use !
There was an evening show down the road, so we hit it before retiring for the evening, actually 2 of them, seemed to make them both at quitting time.
Beautiful weather for the show, I counted 36 cars, give or take a few, some came & some left. They opened it up to Mopars, but only a few came, the Mopars had a show that same day.
About a third of the field is AMX, they had a lot of categories for trophies, but only one for AMX, so most of the cars leaving without a trophy were AMX's. I wasn't looking for one, and I'm selling my AMX anyway, but my thinking is they need to open it up a little, maybe stock AND non stock. Just say'n....
There were some Beautiful cars here, I wish I had taken my Machine, but my AMX was more road worthy at the time. There were 3 SCRamblers, just a few Javelins (where did they all go?), a couple Gremlins, even a couple Pacers, followed up by multiple Ramblers, a nice grouping !
Best of Show went to this Awesome 1930 Nash, I even voted for it ! It was written up as Factory Original, and it looks it !
Our group did not leave empty handed ! Steve got 2nd in performance class for his SCRambler, there were 3 very clean SCRamblers here.
Allen got first in AMX, also Best undercarriage & Best paint, that Red White & Blue is BEAUtiful !
We did get our group together with all 6 of Marks Show Shirts, yea, I know, it looks like some of us are takin' a leak....and we may have....
It was a LONG Day. Later that Day John wasn't doing too well and decided to hit the road, so he & Allen left. The rest of us left Sunday Morning, Steve left early taking the Southern route, and Mark, Robert, and I headed home the way we came, stopping at every gas station we could !
A few years ago they had FIVE SC's HERE !
Sorry I don't know the model of this Rambler, but it's a SWEET Cruiser!
