Midnight at the Oasis

March 1, 2013

Yuma, Az

Last Year Dave & Kati met us there, they couldn't make it this year, but I talked John S. into coming, so he met us on the freeway & we headed out. Jon & Gina were already there, they headed up earlier with with another group.
Friday they have a parade, well, the cars are the parade, we (500+ Cars) drive over, down, over, up, & over to the show grounds. Between sitting in the parking lot and pulling into the parade line and getting back to the show field is maybe 1 ½ hours, then it's Dinner time ! And that is included !

Saturday is the show day, there was a 71 Javelin there, with a lot of people around it when we were by it, car was beautiful, all original, one family, low mileage car....unfortunately the pix did not come out.
But this 57 Nash did ! This is owned by the original buyer ! I've seen him & his car 3 times here.

Jim Burns of Prescott, this guy is full of knowledge, he even worked for a dealership, and he was a music teacher, great guy !

Two metros here also, you have to look close, the color is different, and one is a rag top.

These babies were CLEAN !

On Saturday, Lunch is included ! John, Cindy & I did a lot of walking. John was solo, Shelley had cakes to bake that weekend, but he plans on going next year, AND bringing Shelley.

This show's cut off is 1000 cars, I don't think it has filled up the last few years, but this is a great show. Not a lot of trophys and you have to have a real show car to win one, but for $85 you get two passes, they get you Dinner on Friday, Lunch on Saturday, and Brunch on Sunday during the show ceremonies.
Oh, you also get one T shirt !
They also have a car raffle every year, $20 a ticket, this year was a nice 57 Chevy....i didn't win....again....maybe next year !
This was our 4th year, and we plan to continue this trip !
