Cactus Classic Car Show

Put on by Cactus Cruisers, this is an AMC only event. It started on Friday with Cindy & I meeting John & Shelly in Menifee & us meeting the others in Beaumont (Mark, John C., Robert, Dave & Kati). Both John's trailer'd their cars. So our group was 6 cars. Steve, Stacey & Sheri came up the South route 0n the 8 & we met them in Phoenix.

Pretty long drive, but we got there with NO incidents ! (Richard didn't come !) sorry Richard !.
We got our rooms, cleaned up a little & headed over to Mark Fletcher's house for a BBQ. Tons of food ! & Shirley Shahan was there too ! What a pleasure to meet an AMC & Racing legend !

The next day was the Show, Wow, What Beautiful Cars ! I counted 43 cars at the show, but there may have been more. 5 of them were SC/Ramblers, Jeez !

About 14 AMX's & only a couple of Javelins...where did all the Jav's go ? They made tons of them, but they seem to be rarer then AMX's....Also only two big bodies (71-74). But lots of other stuff, even a Rambler from Argentina ! I guess he should have got long distance !

Again, there were some Beautiful cars there, cars that made me think of all the little things I need to do to my car to make it look like them. If only. We all have our list's.

I was awake at 5am & figured I'd just go & wash my car, then we all met up & had chow. When we got there & parked, I wanted to show off my cut-outs, so I opened them up & goosed it a few times....Sounds AWESome ! Well...till the bypass hose decided it was time to be replaced....what a mess...at least it didn't happen on the trip !

During the Day, Shirley Shahan was there & signing shirts, photo's, hats, etc., but what got me was a Litho with Pete's Patriot & the Dragon Lady side by side on take-off ! So I bought it with her signing it, that got me over having to re-clean my car ! BUT, they said later that Lou Downing was there and signing too, so I grabbed my Litho & got him to sign it also ! WOW ! I mean....WOW ! That thing was Framed & on my wall Monday. It's really a Prize.

I spotted Shirley walking the show field and asked her if she would stand by my car for pix ! Hell Yeah !

Trophy time & 4 went to our group. Steve got one for his AMX, Robert got long distance, & our trophy hoar Stacey got one for his Wagon AND another one that was the pick of the show from Shirley Shahan herself ! What an Honor ! (I hate him...)

From the Show we all drove to Scottsdale for their monthly Saturday eve Show & Shine. It's like the Cars & Coffee they have in Irvine on Saturdays, Lots of cars, Sweet rides.

While there (We had a whole row of AMC's) a BBB Javelin pulled in, very Nice too, & down the row was a Pearl Metro with a Big Block in it.....I don't really want to ride in it ! also a RWB Hornet and Gremlin !

So Sunday was a long drive with a LOT of WIND and crashing was NO Problem when we got home.
Great Show & We will be there Next Year !
