SOCALAMC all American car show
July 28, 2012
I met up with John S. for the trip up to El Segundo, fortunately the 91 was a breeze for the trip up. We met up with Allen, Steve, Robert, & John C. at the show, some of the core members we travel with.
When we got there, Allen & Steve's cars were in front of the show gates ! They went on Friday to the Hotrod & Car Craft Cruise night, I hope to see some pix of that ! They were two of the cars to the right of the gate.
The third was the “George Helmer†racing Javelin under restoration.
On the left side of the gate was “Pete's Patriot†!!! This is the first time I've seen it in person, it's now a museum piece & does not get out too often...what a remarkable car...& what a history !
The show had about 25 cars, there were about 5 more parked on the street. Galvin was there & he brought me some much needed parts.
Some Beautiful cars here, in all conditions, show, driver, under construction, & just worn out, all years.
Most AMC shows are taken over by AMX's & Javelins & they were mainly parked on one side & the back row, with my Machine at the corner. Half the field was AMX/Jav.
The other side had some amazing cars on it, starting with a beautiful 53 Nash Healy that I've never seen ! The red Ambo convertible that's made our show the last 2 years, an early American wagon, a clean Hornet (no, not a green hornet....well...actually it “WAS†a green Hornet....), a rare 66 Rebel, a Hudson Hornet that is...well...Amazing ! Others too, a nice group of cars.
This old Iron looks like it's going to be a Gasser, I hope to see it completed some day !
One of the few Rebels I've seen, this nice looking car was outside the gate, as were a few other AMC's
This old American was in one of the Museum garages, we couldn't go in....
There was also a Pacer up in the rafters that I couldn't get a pix of.
1951 Nash that was in the Museum ! There was also a Tucker in this Museum ! Now I have seen 4 of them, hard to find cars rarer the the SS/AMX !
We got a few of the awards, Allens Beautiful RWB AMX, Steve's Clean original SC/Rambler, & my Machine...there were cleaner cars then mine in my category, I think the Machine gets picks because it is rare to see one. I hope to have it pull it's own weight in a few years....just time & money....I need to find some of those things !
Me, Steve, Allen, & Jim Weil (he has a beautiful white shadow masked 70 AMX)
Everyone split to soon to get pix of all the award winners, I think there were only 10.
I had to throw in a few more pix of Pete's Patriot !
I drooled on this car here two years ago....
