Midnight at the Oasis
March 2, 2012
YUMA ARIZONA
This is a great show, you get a meal each day (for 2), a car parade on Fri., concerts Fri. & Sat., car show Sat. & Sun., and even a T-shirt ! For $85....That's bang for the buck.
Cindy & I drove up Friday morning, alone, I didn't want to get up too early, so we passed on meeting the other car club that we usually drive up with. Dave & Kati went another route & we met them in Yuma, at the show.
Friday we went on the Parade, it takes a few hours from meeting at the parking lot, lining up 700+ cars, and slowly driving out through the 6 mile? Parade route. It's amazing driving this, people line the streets like it's a real parade, chairs, signs, waving & hollering the whole way. Some of the drivers throw out candy to the kids, it's slow moving, but kinda cool man !
We passed on the Friday concert, but Saturdays concert had the Grass Roots, then Paul Revere & the Raiders ! Paul is like 76 & puts on a hell of a show, these guys can jam, joking it up the whole time. We stayed till it was over, we didn't plan to, but they were that fun to watch.
Besides Dave & Kati and Cindy & I, Jon & Gina were there, they drove up with the other club they have ties to. We didn't park together, Jon was in the concert area of the show & Dave and I parked in the reserved show field, it's an extra $10, but you have that spot the whole weekend and don't have to park in the lot for the concert.
This isn't a show you go to if your looking for a trophy, there's only like 5 for the 1000 cars limited to the show, but it's a good show. Cindy & I have made it the last 3 years & plan to go to as many more as possible. Our 3 cars were the only AMC's there. And we got lots of nice comments too !
Hope more cars can make it next year !
Unfortunately, it's only by pre-reg & it has to be made in April this year, the show is March 1-3 2013.
