Coronado Speedfest
September 19, 2015
I go every year, racing all day, pits open, all classes SCCA, vintage racing, Trans Am, Can-AM, ETC, something you haven't seen ? You'll probably see it here ! It has to be the real deal to race here. I've seen as many as 4 RWB AMC's here plus a few more from the day ! The car show is over before noon, and the racing goes all day !
I was the only AMC on Saturday, so I won 1st place, with that comes 2 laps on the track ! They have a slow pace car, and 1st place in all cats get on the track, so you hold back till you have room to leave a little rubber, Specially in front of the Grand Stands ! A Cobra buddy of mine taped both days, they are a little slow though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSA8E1L4py0
So Sunday Richard joined me, only two of us, and it was his turn on the track ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvBbCvqguNE
This Beauty is here almost every year ! One of the originals from the day.
This was the first time I've seen #77, it was pretty much a retired car, and they brought her out of retirement ! Sunday, Richard & I were walking the pits, and checking out all the awesome cars, #77 was in the roadway and they were trying to push her back to the stall, so we helped ! I have to say, I didn't mind putting my hands on her at ALL !
This one is here every year ! So COOL ! As many as 4 RW&B have been here at the same time !
The car show is over, and the trophy's given out by noon, so that leaves plenty of time to see all the cars here.
This show brings out some Beauties too.
Even a few survivors from the day !
....When I saw them....I was kinda' frozen for awhile....The word "mangusta" is Italian for "mongoose", Production 1967–1971 with only 401 produced....WOW ! 2 Here !
The Pantera (Italian for "Panther") was cheaper to build, and was built from 1971 to 1991, with the last car being delivered in 1992, and a total build of 7260....I have always loved these cars, and my body does not bend enough for me to get into one ! so....that's off my buckit list !
Then to the other cars I have a lust for, the Cobra ! They just get me, I'll never own one (unless one of my tickets from the drawings I buy every year wins), but I sure love them as well, my die-cast collection is AMC, and Cobras. Love'm.
Who's this chick that keeps signing the cars .... I wonder if it's the same chick that signed all those baseballs "Babe" ?
This year they had some Awesome nostalgia racers here !
These Old Timers are So Cool ! You can see the love and detail put into keeping these alive.
In the pits, which are open, you will find just about every type of race car built.
And every one of them is REAL ! They do not allow kit cars ! Yep, that's a REAL Cheetah !
What you will see here is a lot of Pride, and hard work, to keep all these cars on the road....or track ! Awesome weekend !
