Spring Fling

April 12, 2015

We Love this show, yeah, it's a Mopar show, the people who threw us away, but we are still their not so ugly stepchildren....well....most of us aren't !
We had 8 cars here, actually 9, we had another AMX in the Race Class.
This is my 6th time here, and it's the first time I have not seen Jay Leno's Turbo car here, but it's O.K., because he just did a You Tube show with Mark's just completed Playmate AMX !

It was real hard to get a shot of our cars, we usually had a lot of people milling around asking Q's, and telling us which family member had one.

This is our group, from left, John S, has the Beautiful Blue 69 AMX (no, it's a ford blue), Robert M. has the Blue 70 AMX, Steve F. has the SC/Rambler “A”, Michael has the Red Gremlin X (304!), Shelby W. has the fishbowl...I mean, the Pacer Wagon, Alan T. has the RW&B 68 AMX (did his own Resto, also the Playmate AMX !), Hobie just bought the Silver Shadow Mask 70 AMX (Nice!), and me, closest to the camera (to make me taller) Randy and my 70 BBG AMX.

Michael's X on the end, Very nice car, I heard the judges went over it pretty good too, I expected it to get a trophy, as well as Allen's RW&B and Steve's SC/Rambler....but they only had 2 trophys today, they didn't expect this many AMC's this year.
Some of us left a little early because we had a 3 hour drive through some heavy L.A. Traffic, I got a call while getting something for my car to drink, and found out that John and I got trophys ! Hobie had pulled his car from the judging, because he is friends with the Mopar Club doing the show, his new car would surely have won a trophy.

Also here was John & Felice Hayes with their 1968 Supercharged AMX, In the race class, John built this 468 c.i., ¼ et 10.7 @ 130mph !
And his setup is awesome for cruisin', he gets better mileage then I do on the freeway !

The shade was nice on a hot day, but it sucks for photos.

Hobie's Silver 70, I had seen pix of this before, from a Sema show a few years ago, and this week on Ebay, it's modified very nicely, except for some chips in the paint, she's a Beauty !
He really scored on this car ! I guess his Alamosa 69 is going to be resting for awhile.

This is one reasone to make these shows, some Beautiful RARE Scooters ! A 1967 Ghia 450 SS ! Only 52 of these made !
And next to it, a 1957 Dual Ghia ! There may only be 30 or so of the original 117 built ! This one was modified for Grand Touring with a 500ci, 525 horse Chrysler, replacing the 315 Hemi !
SWEET !

Some early Iron here to, heres a few from the 30's.

Love this 38 Plymouth !

Even a few Nice Haulers here !

And a Beautiful Custom that the builder was trying to move, so he could start his new project.

I'm kinda partial to some Greens, I also had a 70 Challenger years ago, only a 318, but she was Fun !

Spring Fling is open to all years Mopar, and the newer Challenger is probably the biggest class. And boy are there some Beautys here ! One even has a Cuda modified front, rear, & Hood.

Another big class is the Chargers, Road Runners, Super Bees, GTX's, etc.

My favorite, the 70 Road Runner....when my wife said there was enough money to get a car again, I looked for these....very pricey....and the AMX was half as much....and the AMX actually fit in our smaller Garage, so, I'm very Happy with my BBG !
But I still Look !

There were so many cars that caught my eye, I just don't have the room on my site to show them all.

But I always have room for the Big Wings ! Only 3 this year, I love it when they have 5 or more in a row, but this will have to do.

I think this would make 2 AMX's, it would certainly take that much room to park it !

I'll end this with a wing shot !
