Day Family Classic Car Museum
March 21, 2015
My neighbor has a Beautiful 33 Ford Tudor, like Black Glass, but all steel, his car club was going to the Day Family Classic Car Museum and asked me if I wanted to go, the entry fees were going to the Veterans Hospital, so I was In ! I asked John if he wanted to bring his Beautiful Blue AMX, so we had two.
They had some Awesome cars here, had to be 150+.
Got there at 9am, they have 2 hour blocks for clubs to tour, with a guide the first hour to tell you about each car, they each have some history, whether it be the original owner of it, or who built it, or a “one†of, or an auction car, or a Charity auction car (more then a few !), or some history between the owners of the Museum and cars they have had.
Besides the Fantastic cars, they also have some nice memorabilia here and there, like framed signed guitars of rock bands, one being my sons favorite “Aerosmithâ€, Football, Baseball, Basketball items framed & Auto'd....and.... a Guitar....with a Cobra on it....yep....signed by Mr. Cobra himself, Carroll Shelby !
They have sets for a lot of cars, like the Mayberry Courthouse, with Barney's police car in front. It's not the original car, but it's done so nice that he signed it ! And Goober too !
They have a Drive-in setup with cars watching Lucy.
A Burger joint where the owners met for the first time, and I think he said this was either a perfect replica of the front, or the original front bought and reassembled here, I was grabbing pix and did not hear it all, but I know that Lucy had, or had something to do with both the cars in this pix.
Everything works on this truck ! Cotton Candy, Hot Dogs, Pink Lemonade, You Name it. They plan on using it for tours coming up, Very Cool !
I didn't hear the story on these gangster cars, but I'm sure there was one. And there's an Original Ali Robe on the wall behind them.
All the bar stools and chairs etc. are from the movie Burlesque with Cher & Christina Aguilera.
And another robe, shorts & glove of Ali in a frame on the wall, also fight worn, and signed !
You had to be here to see this bike, this knarley Harley....and the man who rode it !
These were two Charity cars that were auctioned off, the money went to Children's Hospital.... to help make their lives a little easier to deal with.
The Days bought these cars at different auctions, for a total of 900K. Kinda brings a tear to my eye.
Now that's Awesome !
They have another area set up for Vets, and Yes, what better to display here then Vette's !
These two groups should be taken care of by uncle sam, but since they are not, people like the Days, do make a difference. I help where I can, and proud to do it.
Back to AMC, here's one of two that I found here, a like new, Metropolitan, with her Beautiful Hood Ornament. I thought I had a better pix, but the cars are so close, it didn't come out as good as this one.
And a Surfers old 59 American, they have some cars in a covered carport area, I think they are waiting for room, good luck !
That's a COPO ! With like NO miles on it !, and a Beautiful Orange Z28 next to it, it also looks brand new. And of course a rag top SS trying to live up to it's sisters....in any other company....maybe....
Of course there's a pony corner, and I could buy a vacation house in Hawaii, pay off my house, and still have enough for dinner with just the cars you can see here....wow....
You gotta love places like this, there's a lot of history in here, in the cars, the people who owned them, the people who built them, and now with the people who have collected them. The Days have put a lot of heart into this place, and I thank them for letting me have a moment to enjoy their labors.
I get 20 pix per listing, and there are tons of cars here, you will just have to visit it yourself !
O.K., Im going to end this with a naked Lady, sunbathing on an AMC.
And there are a few more pix on my pix site
