Cruisin' Grand Fundraiser

February 22, 2015

We were going to have 6 cars here, but weather, sickness, and a flat tire made it 3 instead. We'll take it ! Anytime we can get a few AMC's together is a win.

Steve brought his SC/Rambler up from San Diego, Terry brought his Golden Lime 70 AMX from Ramona, and I had my BBG 70 AMX as well.

I spent 3 weeks getting raffle prizes for this show, ended up with 100 ! This show is to generate a bank account that will help start Cruisin' Grands 2015 season, it's expensive, and sponsors are drying up, so I help where I can because I don't want it to go away, it's nice to know there's a place to take my car on a Friday after work, if I have any gas left....in me, and my car !

Here's me & Terry, I'm a little mad at Terry....I talked the Organizer of Cruisin' Grand into raffling off one of the car show poster spots, I bought tickets at $5 a piece, and Terry bought some too.... and Terry won ! Then I talked them into auctioning one off, and my bid of $150 wasn't enough either, it went for $440, by a Mopar guy....can you guess what motor he has in his GTX ?

It's o.k. I guess, my BBG is on the 2009 poster, there are 9 cars on a street scene, if your an AMC guy, you'll see it, and ANY props that AMC gets is a win.

So, like I said, the show had some bumps, it was the Big Three weekend, which is a 3 day auto swap meet in San Diego, it was the Daytona Race, it was predicted to rain (we had a few drizzles), Richard had a flat, John was sick, Allen was, well, I guess, finishing up the Playmate car.

But we still had three !

There's a guy in Escondido that has a 64 Classic Wagon, it's his Daily driver, he stopped by and talked with us awhile, I was working the raffle, so I didn't really get to socialize much, but I gave him info on the club, and to the show in May. I actually met Jon Graff, I think, on the AMC Forum, I occasionally pass a white Classic Wagon on my way to work, I saw one of his post's and put 2+2 together and came up with 64, it was his car ! I'm not sure where he parked, but he walked over to hang awhile

There was another Family member here too, I didn't get to meet the owner, but this Hornet was sitting on Grand. I know the Hudson and Nash people don't really join the AMC groups, but it sure would be nice if they came to our shows, they certainly are welcome to.

Gotta love the Woody's, and we have quite a few in SoCal !

This is a shot of South Broadway, because of all the things I mentioned, people were leaving early, the car count was about 200 off normal, most left by 10 to watch Daytona.

Hope to see you at Cruisin' Grand this year !

This is the 2015 poster, and he had me give him pix of the back corner of my Machine....and it's at the top !
Terry's AMX & My Machine on the poster !

I have these to sell, if anyone wants one, $10 shipped, or $5 in person, "ALL" the money goes right back into the Cruisin' Grand fund.
